Why Freud? In many ways, he started it all and his work remains foundational for modern psychotherapy. By carefully listening to his patients and taking their experiences seriously, Freud discovered that talking about one’s life could produce real and meaningful psychological change. He essentially invented talk therapy. His ideas about the unconscious, childhood development, trauma, and the therapeutic relationship continue to shape the way therapy is practiced today.
Psychodynamic Psychotherapy
